The U9/10 boys or girls with travel age division is an 7 v 7 format with goal keepers. This division adheres to the rules/format of the Michigan State Youth Soccer association (MSYSA) and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) for all aspects of play and field/goal size.
There will be approximately ten (10) games with a number of additional practices determined by the coach. Game format will be identical to competitive (travel) soccer, two (2) 25 minute halves and one USSF sanctioned referees at all home games. All home games are at the Rockey Weed Soccer Complex. This division will play away games against other clubs (Berrien Springs, Bridgman, Coloma, Saint Joseph, South Haven, and so on). Games will most likely be on a weekday evening and/or on a Saturday, over the course of a five to six week season. Teams are equalized via a non-cut draft, CLICK HERE for complete details.
Typically there will be five to seven 90 minute practices before the season begins and one a week after the first game, but ultimately each coach chooses the number of practices and the amount of practice time.
End of season jamboree is included for with division
(Jamboree – a mini small sided tournament.) There will be three 20 minutes scrimmages at U6 and three 25 minute scrimmages/games at U7 thru U10. Scrimmages/games will be back-to-back with 10 minute rotation breaks in between. U7 and U8 scrimmages, and U10 games will have referees. U6 jamboree will be at Rockey Weed. The U7 thru U10 jamboree will be at Rockey Weed or possibly another location within 15 miles of Rockey Weed.
Players are allowed to play up to the next division (ie, age appropriate U10 is allowed to play up to U12, but not U14). The player should be one top 10% players in their respective division before playing up and must be in the upper 33% of the division they are requesting to move to. Coaches recommendations are always helpful.
All players receive a uniform kit, which includes jersey, shorts, and socks; and end of season participation medals. Insurance is covered by Michigan State Youth Soccer Association through Got Soccer.
